10 Things that piss off parents

Parents get angry with the actions of people from their community, friends, children, and the decisions they make. The actions may seem to be small to some people, but they aren’t to the parents. This article talks about some of the things that upset parents.

Children performing poorly in school. Parents who pay school fees and the required school necessities on time expect good grades from their children. It overwhelms parents when their children bring home bad grades more especially those who go to good schools with the best teachers in the country.

Strangers, who offer food to your child without your permission. It pisses off parents when a random person feeds their children without their consent in a restaurant, Matatu, and places of worship.

Street hawkers who give play toys to the children to capture their attention. Sometimes parents have no intention of buying any fun stuff for their children, but street hawkers end up messing their day. Street hawkers often position themselves in places where a child can see their stuff and start to cry for you to buy for example your car window.

Children misbehaving in the public. We have at one point seen parents frustrated in church, supermarkets because of their child’s behavior. Children who cry and roll on the dirty floor in the supermarket because they want candy or other unhealthy snacks make life very difficult for their parents.

Parents comparing your child to theirs.  Parents are never happy when their children are compared more especially those parents whose children are a bit slow some stages of development. For example, moms who say “look my baby is the same age as yours but she is already walking”. These kinds of complements do not excite parents more especially mothers.

Children not eating home-cooked food.  Do you know how hard it is to think of, and prepare a healthy meal at home? Parents always prepare the healthiest foods to feed on their children, but it is so disappointing when they do not eat them.

People who judge your child’s character. Children have different ways of expressing their emotions and feelings. Some children may be very aggressive when they are sad and throw plates and any items around them while others maybe not. However, it does not make parents happy when you judge their children. For example, some people will say, you are not raising your child well, teach your child manners, or even propose for you to start beating them.

Kids complaining on your way to the park. Sitting at home all day with kids causes depression for both children and adults. However, it is so irritating when you go for a walk in the park with your children and they start complaining before you reach where you are going. Kids can be like, Mum, I am hungry, mum, I am tired, mum, I want to go back home. How exhausting.

Baby sitter canceling at the last minute when you have an important meeting: working mums can testify the horror of a baby sitter canceling in the morning when you are required to be at work. Some do cancel when you are already late for work, and you start freaking out who to leave the baby for.

Buying clothes or shoes that are small in size for a child. Shopping is a tiresome process because it requires choosing good quality items that please a child. Whether you are shopping in an open market for instance Gikomba market, and the owino market or a mall, it does not feel good when the selected items do not fit a child. Parents get upset when their choices are small for their children and cannot be exchanged or returned to the seller.

Is there something that has ever pissed you off as a parent? It can be something from your friends, child, or yourself. Make the list endless by sharing your experience in the comment.
